The concept of Mobility
Originally, Mobility is the possibility to go from a point A to a point B in a simple way, like going from Paris to New York for example.
Today, with the rise of digitalization and the democratization of the smartphone, the term mobility has evolved. With the development of retail, universal access to information and many other technological developments, the concept of mobility now also rhymes with accessibility.
When it comes to accessing applications or resources, mobility has a double meaning and extends to many areas: food, education and of course the Workplace.

Mobile Phone
Since the launch of the first smartphone, we have seen an evolution in its use. First, in 1999, with the release of the Blackberry, business email went mobile. In 2007, the first iPhone opened a new era by offering applications on a phone: knowledge has become increasingly mobile and this has had a significant impact on our lifestyle: private and professional. Today, we can say that smartphones offer us many essential functionalities: applications, access to content or access to e-mails.
The definition of mobility has been enriched with the ability to communicate and access information from anywhere, and it has clearly become a very important part of our daily life.

The smartphone in professional environment
Today there is a new generation of business users. Traditionally, companies relied mainly on human relationships, the human factor between the company and the customer played a central role in business management. However, digital technology has changed this dynamic.
Today, B2B customers do not expect to interact with a salesperson before closing a deal. The impact of mobile on customers and B2B organizations shows that mobile generates or influences an average of 40% of revenue in leading B2B organizations.

Mobile is playing an increasingly important role in the B2B space.
Business users are increasingly comfortable with technology, using mobile to work and multitasking on multiple screens. They are also no longer tied to a desk. B2B buyers are more likely to work from home or stay productive with their mobile devices while on the go.
Increased usage isn't the only indicator: mobile is driving business results. In addition, mobile businesses are generating higher levels of mobile engagement, as measured by search queries, site traffic, lead generation and actual transactions. They are also finding that a greater share of revenue is generated or influenced by mobile.
The world has gone digital and smartphones are now essential to any business. In the early 2010s, companies opened up to BYOD or "Bring-Your-Own-Device." This was a revolution and created new opportunities: using mobility can improve employee engagement. But the downside was that there was a clear lack of security and compliance policy.
In response to the BYOD trend and to address security concerns, the IT world gave birth to enterprise mobility management (EMM). Many companies have decided to implement EMM solutions to give users flexibility, open services (apps) while allowing IT departments to stay in control.

Since the beginning of the Covid-19, we have seen an explosion of remote work and mobility in all its forms. The concept of the workplace has radically changed and has been renamed the "digital workplace".
To facilitate the transformation of the old type of workplace into the modern workplace, the IT world used Mobile Device Management to build what became Modern Device Management to secure and manage all applications on all devices securely for the right users, wherever they are.
Mobility has definitely been redefined and with Modern Device Management, it will potentially impact every desktop in the world. It is as important to the workplace as the cloud is to the IT infrastructure.
