The purpose of this series of posts is to explore and use Workspace ONE AirLift into a Lab environment to migrate devices, applications, and policies (GPOs) from ConfigMgr and Active Directory Domain Services (ADDS) to Modern Management with Workspace ONE.

1 - ConfigMgr Installation
The following manipulation have to be done on MOB-SRV-MECM-01 Server.
- Open File Explorer.
- Navigate to Sources > MECM.
- Execute splash.hta file.

- Click on Install.

1.1 - Before you begin Step
- Click on Next >.

1.2 - Get Started Step
- Leave default values.
- Click on Next >.

1.3 - Product Key Step
- Select Install the evaluation edition of this product.
- Click on Next >.

1.4 - Product License Terms Step
- Check I accept these License Terms and Privacy Statement.
- Check I Accept these License Terms for both Microsoft SQL Server Express License and Microsoft SQL Server Native Client License.
- Click on Next >.

1.5 - Prerequisite Downloads Step
- Select Use previously downloaded files option.
- Click on Browse...
- From Browse For Folder window, navigate to Sources and select MECM_Update_Files folder.
- Click on OK.
- Click on Next >.

1.6 - Server Language Selection Step
- Verify that English is the Current Supported Language.
- Click on Next >.

1.7 - Client Language Selection Step
- Verify that English is the Current Supported Language.
- Click on Next >.

1.8 - Site and Installation Settings Step
- Next to Site Code, enter MOB.
Site code is very important and must match with pre-configured database name.
- Next to Site name, enter Mobinergy Head Office.
- Next to Installation folder, modify C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager into D:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager.
- Click on Next >.

1.9 - Primary Site Installation Step
- Select Install the primary site as a stand-alone site option.
- Click on Next >.
- On Configuration Manager pop-up window, click on Yes.

1.10 - Database Information 1/2 Step
- Leave default values.
- Click on Next >.

1.11 - Database Information 2/2 Step
- Enter H:\MECM_DB as Path to the SQL Server data file.
- Enter I:\MECM_DB as Path to the SQL Server log file.
- Click on Next >.

1.12 - SMS Provider Settings Step
- Leave default value.
- Click on Next >.

1.13 - Client Computer Communication Settings Step
- Select Configure the communication method on each site system role.
- Click on Next >.

1.14 - Site System Roles Step
- Leave default values.
- Click on Next >.

1.15 - Diagnostic and Usage Data Step
- Click on Next >.

1.16 - Service Connection Point Setup Step
- Leave default values.
- Click on Next >.

1.17 - Settings Summary Step
- Click on Next >.

1.18 - Prerequisite Check Step
A new warning Prerequisite appears: SQL Server security mode.

This is a false positive:

- Open CMTrace.exe located on your desktop.
- Open ConfigMgrSetup.log in order to follow in real time ConfigMgr installation.
- Go back to Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager Setup Wizard and click on Begin Install.
1.19 - Install Step
Installation takes about 40 mn.
During installation process, holds information about the core installation of ConfigMgr by using CMTrace:

Installation may appears as completed but some of the components will be still installing.
To track those changes, go to D:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\Logs and open sitecomp.log.
sitecomp.log holds informations about maintenance of installed site components
- Once Core setup has completed and all tasks have been turned into green, click on Close
- Close all windows.

2 - ConfigMgr Overview and Health Check
The following manipulation have to be done on MOB-SRV-MECM-01 Server.
- Click on Start menu.
- Navigate into Microsoft Endpoint Manager folder.
- Click on Configuration Manager Console to open ConfigMgr Console.

- Pin Configuration Manager Console to taskbar.
- Please find below a quick description of some areas of the console.

- From Workspaces pane, click on Monitoring.
- From Navigation Pane, expand System status node.
- Click on Site status
- Verify all Site system roles have green icon and Status OK.

- Still under System Status node, click on Component Status.
- Verify all Components have green icon and Status OK.
In case some components have a Warning status, ignore them as these components will resolve themselves later.

- Close all windows.
3 - ConfigMgr updates Check and Installation
The following manipulation have to be done on MOB-SRV-MECM-01 Server.
- Open Configuration Manager Console.
- In Workspaces, click Administration.
- Expand Overview node.
- Click on Updates and Servicing node.
- In ribbon, click on Check for updates.
- Wait for few minutes.
- In ribbon, click Refresh until updates appears.

In this tutorial, we are going to only install Configuration Manager 2103 updates. Upgrade is out-of-scope.
- Right click on Configuration Manager 2103 Hotfix Rollup. here this update has KB number KB10036164.
- Click on Download.

- On Configuration Manager pop-up window, click Yes.

- Wait for few minutes.
- In ribbon, click on refresh until Configuration Manager 2103 Hotfix Rollup State switch from Available to download
to Ready to install.
- Right click on Configuration Manager 2103 Hotfix Rollup.
- Click on Run prerequisite check.

To check Details status, go to Monitoring > Overview > Updates and Servicing Status > Configuration Manager 2103 Hotfix Rollup.
Right click on Configuration Manager 2103 Hotfix Rollup then click on Show Status.
In our case, Prerequisite Check has been completed with one Warning that can be ignore for the moment:
- Right click on Configuration Manager 2103 Hotfix Rollup.
- Click on Install Update Pack.

3.1 - General Step
- Check Ignore any prerequisite check warnings and install this update regardless of missing requirements.
- Click on Next >.

3.2 - Client update options Step
- Leave default selection.
- Click on Next >.

3.3 - License Terms Step
- Check I accept these License Terms and Privacy Statement.
- Click on Next >.

3.4 - Cloud attach Step
- Uncheck Enable Microsoft Endpoint Manager admin center.
- Uncheck Enable automatic client enrollment for co-management.
- Click on Next >.

3.5 - Summary Step
- Click on Next >.

3.6 - Completion Step
- Once the task completed successfully, click on Close.

- To check Installation status, click on Monitoring
- Expand Overview.
- Expand Updates and Servicing Status
- Click on Configuration Manager 2103 Hotfix Rollup.
- In ribbon, click on Show Status.
- Click on Installation.
- Wait until all installation steps swith to Completed status.

- Once all installation steps has been Completed succesfully, click on Post Installation.
- Wait until all Post Installation steps swith to Completed status.

- Once all post installation steps has been Completed succesfully, click on OK.

- Close all windows.
